If the massive success of Married At First Sight proves anything, it’s that Australians love nothing more than to watch a slow-motion train wreck play out on television.
With that in mind, it appears that Sophie Monk – ex-Bardot singer and frequent accomplice of Kyle & Jackie O – is keen to star on the upcoming third season of The Bachelorette.
The Daily Telegraph report that the single-and-ready-to-mingle Monk called a meeting with Channel 10 executives this week to pitch herself for the series.
Monk recently copped a savaging from Tom Gleeson on his Hard Chat segment, and revealed to him that she’s keen to be the first celebrity rose hander-outer in the history of the franchise.
“You’ve seen me in and out of love too many times,” she recently told the Saturday Telegraph. “If I wasn’t in this industry I reckon I’d be married with four kids already but it is tough.”
Now, this doesn’t mean that it will happen, but if the Telegraph is to be believed, then the prospect of Sophie Monk as The Bachelorette has at least been entertained on some level.
Is the nation ready to see Sophie Monk going on highly-contrived hot air balloon dates and thirsting after a dozen dudes with Instagram-ready smiles and washboard abs? I guess we’ll see.
