The 2017 Emmy Awards were, for the most part, unfathomably good. Donald Glover made history for being the first black director to win an Emmy for comedy. Lena Waithe made history for being the first black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing. Laura Dern existed (and then won an Emmy).
In fact, the only downside of the whole thing was former Trump press secretary Sean Spicer being rewarded for lying for the president for six months with stage time to, er, joke about lying for six months. That’s going to be a head scratcher for a while.
But outside of that, pretty good areas all-round.
If, like most normal people, you don’t spend 95% of your waking life online, you might have missed some of the best tweets about (and from) the Emmys. And if that’s the case, then here are 23 of the best ones for you.
