Some Deadset Champ Made A Chrome Extension To Block ‘Star Wars’ Spoilers

Today, for the first time in a decade, the world welcomed a new Star Wars film. It’s called The Force Awakens. It’s kind of a big deal – a big enough deal that attendees at the film’s premiere had their phones confiscated, lest they betray humanity by sneaking out some spoilers on social media.

Fortunately, those lucky souls have had the common decency not to do so… yet. Regardless, someone, somewhere, will eventually pull the ultimate dick move and deliberately spoil the biggest film release in recent memory ahead of the review embargo being lifted on Wednesday.

It’s only a matter of time, but ol’ mate technology is here to sort you out when it happens. Some intrepid developer has whipped up Force Block: the Star Wars spoiler blocker, a Chrome extension that blacks out the screen when it senses spoilers may be near. If you’re willing to take the chance, you can dismiss the warning, and avert your eyes manually if necessary.

Essentially, it’s just like some anti-virus programs, just far more useful. If you’re still on the fence, cop this: it even comes with a little lightsaber logo. Try it out here.

By the way, here is one spoiler, of sorts: apparently, the movie is absolutely rad. Take this from patron saint of Star Wars fans, Patton Oswalt:
