Sigur Rós To Appear In Game Of Thrones

Entertainment Weekly has reported that Icelandic post-rock falsetto-ers Sigur Rós will appear in the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s wildly popular medieval drama Game Of Thrones. The band confirmed the announcement on their Facebook page.

There’s no word as to the roles the group will play on the show, so we don’t know whether they’ll appear as a band, performing A Song of Iceland and Fire, or will simply bang their siblings and get their heads cut off.

Game Of Thrones and super cool indie music has proven to be a pretty good match so far, with Coldplay drummer Will Champion appearing for a brief second taking percussion duties in the Red Wedding episode, and Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody also making an appearance as a singing Bolton soldier in season three. Melancholic band The National recorded a cover of Lannister family theme song “Rains of Castamere” for the penultimate episode of season two, while The Hold Steady took on Westeros drinking song “The Bear And The Maiden Fair”.
