Sharon Osbourne Is Leaving-Slash-Being Bounced From Her Daytime Show After Her Racism Row

Sharon Osbourne is leaving-slash-being bounced from her popular daytime show The Talk, after comments about friend Piers Morgan led to a fierce racism row with a co-host.

Several weeks ago, Osbourne got into a heated discussion with co-host Sheryl Underwood, after defending Morgan’s comments about Meghan Markle.

Morgan said he didn’t “believe a word” that Markle said during her Oprah Winfrey interview, and when Osbourne stuck up for him, Underwood suggested that it was racist to defend his comments.

Osbourne responded:

“For me, at 68 years of age to have to turn around and say ‘I ain’t racist’ – what’s it got to do with me? How could I be racist about anybody? How could I be racist about anybody or anything in my life? How can I?”

The two continued to bicker as the show went to commercial, and after it returned. She later apologised for the heated exchange on Twitter, and the show went on hiatus as the network investigated.

It seems she will not be returning after this break, however, and in a statement to USA Today, the CBS Network said:

“Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk. The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”

Sharon Osbourn herself has not commented on the news.
