Shangela lip synced and danced to iconic tunes including ‘Single Ladies’, ‘Run The World’, and Destiny Child‘s ‘Independent Women’ as part of her Beyoncé tribute at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. The performance was so electric, Shangela received a standing ovation.
Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z were being honoured with the GLAAD Media Vanguard Award for their continual support of the LGBTQI+ community.
Upon receiving the award onstage, Bey said she was “very proud of the run in my stocking from Shangela.”

After her performance, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were introduced to the stage by actor Lena Waithe, HIV activist Morris Singletary, trans activist Janet Mock, and Beyoncé’s longtime friend and stylist Ty Hunter.
Jay-Z praised and thanked his mother, Gloria Carter, who came out as gay on the album ‘4:44’ and Beyoncé dedicated the award to her uncle, “the most fabulous gay man I’ve ever known, who helped raise me and my sister.
“He lived his truth, he was brave and unapologetic in a time that this country wasn’t as accepting. And witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived. I’m hopeful his struggles served to open pathways for other young people to live more freely.
