Sex And The City 3

This Hollywood-fuelled obsession with sequels, prequels and trilogies has got to stop. It’s getting beyond the scope of utter ridiculousness. Suffice to say, the general public can foot some of the blame, as well as filmmakers, actors and capitalist greed. Gone are the days when you could just make a stand-alone film without bowing forth to the pressures of creating a franchise that’ll generate gross profit into the hands of studio executives. Here’s one we could’ve perhaps suspected, but dreaded the thought of it ever coming true: Sex and the City 3.

Yep. Those of you still left healing from the disappointment that was Sex and the City 2, how’s about this for some salt in the wound? Of course, it’s still a rumour at this point, with no plans yet being revealed for a trilogy. But Kristin Davis just couldn’t keep her damn mouth shut.

“I would love to do a third film,” Davis told the UK’s Metro. “We all want to do it, I guess it’s just figuring out whether we can move the character forward any more.” Figure out how to get another gig.

However, actor Chris Noth (Big) told Vulture in September that he believed the media killed all possibilities of future movies, because of negative reviews given to the sequel.

“It’s over. The franchise is dead. The press killed it. Your magazine fucking killed it. New York Magazine. It’s like all the critics got together and said, ‘This franchise must die.’ Because they all had the exact same review. It’s like they didn’t see the movie,” Noth said. Well said Noth.

Girls (and guys), if you any humility left, please – we beg you – quit while you’re marginally ahead.
