Selena Gomez Reveals She Underwent Chemo, Not Rehab, In 2013

In a new interview with Billboard, Selena Gomez has revealed that she cancelled her Australian and Asian tour in 2013 not, as was reported at the time, because she was going into rehab, but because she was undergoing chemotherapy for lupus.

I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy,” she told the magazine, which came out yesterday. “That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke. I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re assholes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”

She’s also hit back at everyone who was a total dick to her during that time:

I’m so fucking nice to everybody, and everyone is so vile to me,” she said. “I’ve been working since I was 7. I’ve been a UNICEF ambassador since I was 17. It’s so disappointing that I’ve become a tabloid story.

Gomez channeled that rage into her upcoming and aptly titled album ‘Revival‘, claiming that “the hate motivated me“, and thus making her the new kindred spirit of all of us who have ever declared, five gin & tonics in: “I’ll show ’em – hic – I’ll show ’em ALL.” *cackles / vomits*

@billboard thank you 🙂 … REVIVAL
