Scorsese’s Gangster Masterpiece ‘The Departed’ Is Being Rebooted For TV

Our lives are run by reboots now, and many amongst us feel like we’re all screaming ‘MAKE SOMETHING ORIGINAL’ into the wind.
And we hate to tell you this, but it doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon.
If you’re a fan of Martin Scorsese‘s insanely popular and very very excellent film ‘The Departed’ starring Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, then boy, are you in luck/about to be really mad.
The Hollywood Reporter are reporting that Amazon are rebooting the iconic movie into a television series.

*ducks to miss your inevitable, anger-driven right hook*

The show will be an hour-long drama, and it’s been said that it will closely resemble both ‘The Departed’ and ‘Internal Affairs‘ (the 2002 Hong Kong film on which Scorsese‘s 2006 masterpiece was based).
According to THR, this is the plot of the gritty series:

“The project centres on a young cop who goes undercover to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, which simultaneously plants its own man in the police department.

Set in present-day Chicago amidst the shifting tides of warring ethnic drug gangs, the gritty, suspenseful drama follows these two embattled moles as they attempt to fulfil their mission and stay alive.
This show has pretty bloody big shoes to fill: ‘The Departed’ made $289 million worldwide, got nominated for six Oscars, and Scorsese took home the statue for Best Director.
Easy peasy, right?
