Robert Pattinson Refused To Perform Sex On A Dog, Which Seems Like A Good Call

In news that may or may not prove to be devastating for the authors of erotic Edward and Jacob fan fiction, actor Robert Pattinson has been praised for refusing to go through with a movie scene that required him to perform a non-simulated sex act on a canine co-star.

The former Twilight hunk caught pretty much everyone by surprise during an appearance on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he explained the context behind the scene in question, in his upcoming indie crime drama Good Time

Pattinson’s character, a petty criminal, has an “affinity” for dogs, and feels he may have been one in a previous life; at the key moment in the film, a drug dealer bursts into his apartment to find him on the bed with a dog doing, um, hand stuff with it.

He told Jimmy:

“It was a character thing. I asked the trainer [about it] because the director was like, ‘Just do it for real, man! Don’t be a pussy!’ And the dog’s owner was like, ‘Well, he’s a breeder. I mean, you can. You just gotta massage the inside of his thighs.’ I was like, ‘Just massage the inside of his thighs?!’ I didn’t agree to do the real one, so we made a fake red rocket.”

While the phrase “fake red rocket” will probably haunt me for the rest of the day, it’s nice to know that Pattinson stuck to his guns and refused to get all up in a dog’s business.

In a statement to E! News, PETA Vice President Lisa Lange praised Pattinson for his refusal to go through with the scene in question, saying:

“PETA depends on actors and crew members to come forward when they see mistreatment, whether it involves a dog who is being forced into churning water on the set of A Dog’s Purpose or an A-list actor who is being asked to molest his canine co-star. Robert Pattinson is our kind of guy (and everyone’s who has a heart) for refusing to masturbate a dog … and for talking about it so that the public can see that once again animal trainers’ top priority is money and animals’ interests and well-being are often ignored.”
