Peter Dinklage’s “Awfully Wooden” Voice Won’t Feature In ‘Destiny’ Anymore

Destiny players: ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? Nope. Apparently not.

At least, not with Peter Dinklage‘s voice work as the Ghost, with news he’s set to be replaced entirely.

A voiceover replacement has been found in gaming voice veteran Nolan North, who’s “really excited” about it, casually throwing Dinklage under a bus by informing the world that “you want to give [the Ghost] as much personality as the world will allow it, without making it unbelievable“, and that – THIS TIME – they’ve managed it.

By way of explanation, creative director Luke Smith told Game Informer:We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty.”

Look, there’s no use beating around the bush with this one: Peter Dinklage’s voice work in ‘Destiny’ wasn’t… great. Kirk Hamilton at Kotaku called his performance “awfully wooden, a far cry from his often riveting scenes on Game of Thrones,” and everybody else called it (we’re paraphrasing here) complete shit.

Dinklage’s poor performance has been blamed on everything from the oft-reworked script, to the storyline, to Dinklage himself.

Whatever it is, you have to wonder just how the bleeding fuck this line made it into the final version:

This is also a perfectly reasonable explanation for Dinklage’s departure.

Oh, Peter. We’ll always have Westeros.
