Old Mates James Mathison And Osher Gunsberg Are Reuniting On Election Day

James Mathison is contesting the Sydney seat of Warringah, currently held by Tony Abbott, at next weekend’s federal election, and he’ll have some help on the day in the form of his old mate and former Australian Idol co-host Osher Gunsberg.
What a time to be alive.
The two will be campaigning together and trying to woo voters at North Curl Curl Primary School, which definitely sounds more entertaining than your standard election day sausage sizzle.
Per reports in the Herald Sun, Gunsberg has a plan for how he’d like live coverage of the day to play out.

“I’d like them to figure out a way to cross to me so I can read out the votes for the seats of Warringah as if I was reading out Australian Idol votes … And then, in a hybrid, be able to say to the losing candidates, ‘You did not receive a rose’.

‘Tony, you did not receive a rose, please take a moment to say goodbye to your electorate of 22 years …’ So if you could please organise that, if you could talk to the TV people, that would be ace.”

Mathison, a first-time independent candidate, recently survived a political scandal of his very own. If you’re casting your vote in the Northern Beaches area next Saturday, drop in and say howdy.
