Nicole Santos Facebook Hack Spawns Inevitable Joke Rap Video

“F-ck you fa–ot. Go kill yourself. Vote for Nicole Santos. I hate you and the only way to remove all these posts is by disabling this below”

This is the internet eating itself. Less than a day after the Nicole Santos Facebook hack implored us to kill ourselves, a comedian has created a joke rap video which warns users against clicking on nefarious Facebook links. Why? You look like an idiot. Commonly known as phishing, the video details the gentle art of duping people into giving up their account details then spreading and promoting malware through their networks. You might remember an Osama Bin Laden video littering your news feed earlier this month? Fake and utterly useless aside from acting as neat little litmus test for internet naivety (you failed, Mum).

Despite the recent spate of privacy breaches Facebook assures us that their latest problem has been corrected: “This spam was spread by a vulnerability in our code and we worked quickly to resolve this matter. The bug caused a small number of spam comments to be posted to users’ walls, and we are in the process of cleaning up any spam it may have caused.”

But while Nicole Santos the Facebook hack has died Nicole Santos the internet meme lives on. Nicole Santos was a trending topic on twitter yesterday, the subject of countless Facebook groups today and the inspiration behind some not terrible Etsy merchandise. Our favourite though, is the joke rap video. It’s not that funny but everyone needs to learn that usernames and passwords need only be entered ONCE. Everything else is a lie.

We’ve a ways to go before Facebook out-spams the bedazzled toilet bowl that is Myspace but breaches like this are exactly what drove people away in the first place.
