New ‘Walking Dead’ Spin-off Casting Sprinkled With Aussie And NZ Talent

We’re one step close to getting the Walking Dead spin-off that we all deserve and need right now.

Confirmation has come down that Cliff Curtis has been cast as the male lead and will be playing a divorced teacher called Sean who is “a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.” Aren’t we all?

Elsewhere, English actor Frank Dillane will play a troubled youth called Nick, a role he will no doubt be exceedingly comfortable in having previously played teen Tom Riddle – the most troubled of all youths – in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Good one, puberty.

Aussie actress Alycia Debnam Carey, who is a fukn qt, will play Nick’s less troubled sister Ashley.

Fun fact, she has previously appeared in Into The Storm alongside Sarah Wayne Callies who, of course, played one of Walking Dead’s most beloved characters <3

The remaining leads are yet to be locked down but TV Line report that this is roughly what their vibe will be:

Meanwhile, there has been some speculation that this series could take place outside of the United States. Like, in an ideal world they would release a plethora of new equally well-budgeted Walking Dead spin-offs simultaneously, all in different countries, which show how humans of different nations experience the outbreak à la World War Z. {Patent Pending}. But tbh, neither seem likely.

Robert Kirkman, one of the executive producers, did say of the new series: “There are many corners of ‘The Walking Dead’ universe that remain unseen in the shadows. Being given the opportunity to shine a light into those corners and see what lurks out there is an absolute thrill.”
