The hospitalised condition of Anti-apartheid champion Nelson Mandela has reportedly turned grim, being described as “critical” by South African president Jacob Zuma.

Mandela, less than four weeks away from celebrating his 95th birthday, has been hospitalised in Pretoria since June 8 due to a lung infection. Despite reports during the past weeks that Mandela’s condition was continually improving, news today has had South Africans—and the world alike—concerned for what will come of the next few days.
