Back in January, film director and sci-fi wunderkind Neill Blomkamp purged a series of totally badass looking concept art for something he was apparently just kicking around with in his spare time. All logic and wisdom pointed towards the fact that, at one point, he was working on a new instalment in the Alien series. But, alas, at the time it looked like that project was sadly not to be.
Today, however, things have changed and very much for the better. It would appear that Blomkamp is officially on board with another Alien film for 20th Century Fox. The time for pants shatting is now, my friends.
Fittingly, Blomkamp took to Instagram to convey the news.
‘Course there’s absolutely no other details beyond the fact that it’d be with Fox and that Blomkamp is signed on and brimming with keen. But those two facts alone should be enough to get the tingling going in your nerder regions.
Blomkamp of course helmed other sci-fi hits like District 9 and Elysium, with the upcoming Chappie scheduled to hit theatres in a matter of weeks.
I know it’s folly to get too overly excited on something at this extraordinarily early stage. But consider me this right now.
