Neil Patrick Harris Got Secretly Married Over The Weekend

The producers of the failed How I Met Your Dad pilot really screwed the pooch when they didn’t just base the whole damned thing on the impossibly adorable relationship between How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris and his long time partner David Burtka.

The 41-year old contender for “Most All-Around Entertaining Person Alive” quietly tied the knot with Burtka over the weekend, resurrecting our belief in the existence of love that had been stomped all over the day Amy Poehler and Will Arnett broke up. Love lives, you guys! It LIVES!

The ceremony took place in Italy, and was presided over by their close friend, How I Met Your Mother‘s principal director Pamela Fryman. Even better still? It included a performance by Elton John. NPH confirmed the whole magnificent, wonderful thing on them there Twitters.

The couple had been engaged for at least five years and have twins – Harper and Gideon – whom you may remember as being the most adorable family of all time.
