Miley Cyrus Won’t Be Having Kids ‘Cos Of The State Of The Environment

Miley Cyrus has declared that she won’t be having kids until we somehow un-fuck the planet, in an interview with Elle.

Cyrus compared the way the the planet and its resources have been depleted by humans over hundreds of years, with the way women are expected to be fertile and bear children.

We’ve been doing the same thing to the earth that we do to women. We just take and take and expect it to keep producing. And it’s exhausted. It can’t produce.

Which led Cyrus – currently in the news because of the body positive film clip for single ‘Mother’s Daughter‘ – to openly state that she has no intention of bringing new life into our utterly cooked world.

We’re getting handed a piece-of-shit planet, and I refuse to hand that down to my child. Until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water, I’m not bringing in another person to deal with that.
”

She’s not alone in her convictions – it seems like any person looking at having a baby in 2019 has to think about the kind of world they’re bringing that child into, and what we could do to say, negate the devastating impact of man-made climate change.

You know, regular new mum stuff, reading What to Expect when You’re Expecting, buying a stroller, and grappling with rising sea levels, unpredictable weather and melting polar ice caps.

[Millennials] don’t want to reproduce because we know that the earth can’t handle it,” Cyrus noted.

She also explained the perceived role of women in society to have children:

We’re expected to keep the planet populated. And when that isn’t a part of our plan or our purpose, there is so much judgment and anger that they try to make and change laws to force it upon you—even if you become pregnant in a violent situation. If you don’t want children, people feel sorry for you, like you’re a cold, heartless bitch who’s not capable of love.

Cyrus is, as you well know, married to Liam Hemsworth, who she describes in the interview as “the person I feel has my back the most“. She seems very capable of love, actually.

In the interview, Cyrus also spoke about her experience of fame and celebrity, explaining that when she sought therapy, she was told that she likely felt paranoid because she smoked weed.

Cyrus disagreed, thinking the likely culprit was actually the drones literally flying over her backyard to take pictures of her.

One time I was naked on top of a fake horse when a drone showed up. And I’m like, Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better time. At least I wasn’t sitting there drinking coffee, being boring.
