Miley Cyrus Is A Weird Little Robot In The New Batch Of ‘Black Mirror’ Teasers

Brace yourselves, mates. The long-awaited fifth season of Black Mirror is very, very close. Nearly six months after having our brains wrinkled via the sprawling, wildly ambitious interactive film Bandersnatch, a much more “traditional” batch of three new episodes is coming in early June, and this morning we not only copped juicy episode titles and plot details, but a crop of brand new teasers as well. Mates? It’s gonna be good.

The three-episode season is set to drop on Netflix once again, and if these teasers are anything to go by we’re in for one hell of a ride.

In the first episode, Smithereens, a tightly-wound rideshare driver played by Andrew Scott has a really terrible, no good, very bad time after he “becomes the centre of attention on a day that rapidly spirals out of control.” The episode also stars Topher Grace as some sort of hippie-lookin’ wellness guru. There’s a sentence I didn’t expect to be writing today, or any day.

In the second, Striking Vipers, “two estranged college friends reunite in later life, triggering a series of events that could alter their lives forever.” Anthony Mackie picks up a leading role playing a man with a family life looking for some sort of mental out.

Finally, Rachel, Jack, and Ashley, Too pits Miley Cyrus as the idyllic pop star with the fairy tale life whose existence seems too good to be true. Cyrus also voices a weird Alexa-like robot companion who apparently gains sentience and rejects the power cord shoved up its ass. So it’s got that going for it too.

Not a lot of other information is available at this time, but fortunately for all of us we don’t have much longer to wait: Black Mirror season five arrives on Netflix come June 5th.

Prepare accordingly.
