Matty J Admits ‘The Bachelor’ Was Kinda Pointless After Episode Numero Uno

Real talk: Matty Johnson’s final decision to dive into a relationship with Laura Byrne over Elise Stacy at the end of The Bachelor was a surprise, only because the past two seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette saw audience expectations absolutely annihilated.

In every other aspect though, it was pretty obvious. And after the finale aired, Matty J even told The Daily Telegraph that he wishes he could have sent everyone packing after his first on-screen date with the jewellery designer.

Speaking pretty candidly after the lifting of his contractually-obligated cone of silence, Johnson told the Tele he could “appreciate” the fact his ~ love ~ was being fed through the meat grinder of reality television, but that he’s simply not fussed if people found the ending predictable.

“I got what I came for and I don’t care,” the loved-up bloke said.

He went even further in confirming the whole process was kind of a waste of everyone’s time, explaining “do I wish on night one I could have just said goodbye to the 20 other girls and go Laura’s the one? I wish I could have.”

That stance kind of backs up comments made by Stacy before the show’s finale. Speaking to Confidential, Stacy revealed she had been “pretty sceptical” about Johnson, and that “on our first date I said I’m well aware that your heart could already be taken by someone and I’m uneasy about the fact that this could be a waste of time.”

Stacy’s coincide with rumours that the Johnson and Byrne already knew each pretty well before filming even began.

Love is dead. Long live love.
