Matt Weiner Promises That No One Will Die On Mad Men This Season

In news confirming that the suspiciously helpful SCDP-CGC accounts man Bob Benson was not a closeted serial killer and just plain old closeted, Mad Men showrunner Mattew Weiner has confirmed that no one will die in the remaining few episodes of Mad Men this season.

Weiner, speaking with the LA Times in a roundtable discussion featuring some of the show’s cast members, took time to assuage our fears that another major character would die this season despite the irrefutable subtext cast by the historically significant t-shirt Megan Draper was wearing on the balcony that one time.

“I don’t want to spoil anything for people, but after Lane …” Weiner began, referring to the late, great Lane Pryce, who was the ad agency’s financial officer until he hanged himself at the end of last season.

“They’re barking up the wrong tree,” Elisabeth Moss, who plays Peggy, added.

Weiner: “It’s just not part of the show. No one’s going to die.”

At this point, Pare exhaled loudly and sang out: “Thank God!”

“This season,” Weiner interjected, laughing. “I didn’t say never!”

We pretty much read that last line as “I didn’t say never Megan! Muhahahaha!”
