Karl Stefanovic Made A Cracker Of A Best Man’s Speech For Brother Peter

Today presenter Sylvia Jeffreys and 60 Minutes correspondent Peter Stefanovic got married yesterday, in an intimate ceremony at Ooralba Estate in Kangaroo Valley, in the NSW southern highlands.
With intense interest in the event, there was a strict social media ban in place, but that has been relaxed today, so pictures of the happy couple and their guests are pouring onto Instagram, to show you what you missed out on.

Congratulations @sylviajeffreys and @peter_stefanovic

The bride wore a dress with a lengthy, flowing train, believed to be a custom piece from designer Rebecca Valance, while the bridesmaids wore light pink off-the-shoulder gowns.
The groom arrived in a dark Mercedes-Benz sedan, as his brother Karl sat, grinning beside him. Catering trucks from Sydney restaurant Aria were seen earlier making deliveries at the venue, so the food was probably pretty top-notch, too.

Speaking of Karlos, the man himself had been in Queensland covering Cyclone Debbie and its aftermath, but made it down in time to execute some photobombs and deliver one hell of a best man’s speech.
Karl and his brother Tom Stefanovic opted to go the musical route, and serenaded the happy couple to the tune of ‘Champagne Supernova‘, which is apparently their favourite song.
The lyrics paid tribute to Jeffreys, who is a “bloody find” with a “great behind”, and noted how the Stefanovic boys have got “beautiful heads, we don’t pay for shit, agents deliver it.”
The song somehow even managed to work in a reference to the 60 Minutes child abduction debacle, with Tom and Karl singing “someday you will find Pete in a Beirut jail like Tara.”
“He’s more like Ray Martin, he’s better than Ray Martin,” they continued, to the raucous laughs of the assembled guests. The Daily Mail obtained audio of the speech and have published it on their website.
Reportedly, Karl and Tom faked a fight before their speech, leading to calls for an “intermission”, which sounds very much like something Karlos would be involved in.
Other guests included Richard Wilkins, Lisa Wilkinson and her husband Peter Fitzsimons, who told News Corp about the highlights of the ceremony, saying:
“It was a terrific wedding and there was so much love. There were so many wonderful speeches.”
Fitzsimons recalled the moment that an “industrial-strength drone” arrived at the ceremony to capture photographs, and Sylvia just turned to give it a wave. “Then some damn helicopter came from somewhere!”

Best. Day. Ever. Thanks to our beautiful friends and family for all the ? ?? @js35

The couple had their first dance to the Isley Brothers‘ ‘Shout‘, and that they spent their wedding night nearby “in a lush home set on private acres featuring a pool, olive grove and golf course.”
