‘Justice League’ Might Actually Be Short & Fans Are Weirdly Mad About It

Look, whether or not you liked Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, you’ve got to admit that it didn’t have quite enough to do over its 151-minute runtime.

That goes for a lot of superhero movies in fact: rarely do they do much to earn their absolutely massive runtimes. I love superhero movies! I’d love a lean, mean one which gets me in and out in under two hours, doesn’t feature leaden expository dialogue and keeps the set-pieces sharp rather than meandering. Am I alone in this cruel world?

Well, fans of the DC Universe are going a bit mad today over revelations of the unusually short length of upcoming movie Justice League. A tweet from a UK cinema chain seemed to confirm it clocked in as just under two hours, including credits:

Of course, 1 hour and 59 minutes including credits is a pretty damn short movie! Erik Davis, managing editor of film site Fandango, pointed out that it’s a smidge longer, coming in at 121 minutes. He said that the runtime was Zack Snyder‘s wish.

Now, it turns out that my desire for a tightly produced superhero film which cuts all the fat and gets down to business is not shared by a large contingent of DC fans. In fact, many of them are kinda pissed that its not a nearly three-hour funeral dirge like BvS:

But among that, there are still fans who reckon it will aaaaall be ok. Including, weirdly, the mayor of Long BeachCalifornia?

Anyway, we’re all waiting on a super duper official confirmation from Warner Bros.
