Judd Apatow Is Officially Producing Jemaine Clement’s New HBO Show

Flight of the Conchords‘ Jemaine Clement revealed last year that he was working on a new show for HBO, and fans absolutely lost their freakin’ minds.

Now he’s revealed even more news, and we were right to freak out: it’s exciting as hell.
The “comic’s comic” and director of Amy Schumer‘s ‘Trainwreck‘, Judd Apatow, will be producing the show.
Clement was pretty stoked on Apatow already, saying to the SMH,
“Usually we know what’s wrong with the script but we hand it in anyway and then he’ll tell us… if you ever heard anyone talking about working with him, he actually pushes the comedy further. Makes your ideas good. It’s good exercise.”
The show, which currently still doesn’t have a title, is going to be a four-episode mini-series that’s “like The Twilight Zone, but comedy.” Taika Watiti, who Clement worked with on ‘What We Do in the Shadows’, is also onboard with the project (and if it’s half as good as WWDITS then we’ll be beyond stoked).
Each of the four episodes will each be like a different mini-movie, so will each centre around a different story and time period, but feature the same cast. Two scripts have been written; one is about a dance competition (because, of course it is) and the other is explicitly about time-travel.
So it sounds weird and wonderful and ohmygodweactuallycannotwait.
