Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the hunky actor who made hearts flutter in Inception and Looper, is all set to play Edward Snowden, the hunky whistle-blower who made hearts flutter when he leaked masses of government information, in an upcoming film.
Variety report that director Oliver Stone, who knows his way around highly classified government shit, will begin shooting The Snowden Files early next year. He has offered the lead role to Gordon-Levitt, who has reportedly agreed, although the deal is yet to be finalised.
Edward Snowden has been on the run since early 2013, when he disclosed a massive number of secret documents detailing global surveillance programs, many of them run by the NSA.
The film is based on a book written by Snowden’s lawyer, which is believed to be the most accurate account of his life since the release of the documents, and his life in exile.
Gordon-Levitt is presently filming a new comedy with stoner bro Seth Rogen. Snowden is presently hiding out at an undisclosed location in Russia. One of those things sounds like more fun than the other.
