Joseph Gordan-Levitt Tipped For ‘Batman 3’

Holy casting rumours, Batman! Anyone with a soul knows that Batman is the best of all superheroes because his superpower is basically shitloads of cash and sweet gadgets so normal people can totally relate to him; and now that the ash of Heath Ledger’s blazing performance as The Joker has settled, our attention has turned to Christopher Nolan’s pending follow up to The Dark Knight, tentatively titled Batman 3. Warner Bros. have locked in the release date for July 20, 2012 and casting speculation has already begun.

Well before the movie was actually confirmed rumours were flying: Emily Blunt as Catwoman, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin, Johnny Depp as The Riddler and maybe Guy Pierce as Black Mask.

The latest name attached to the project is Joseph Gordon-Levitt – best known for bonding with Zooey Deschanel over The Smiths in (500) Days Of Summer and has also delivered some great character performances in Gregg Araki’s Mysterious Skin and Stop-Loss. Collider reports that JGL is now being tipped to play The Riddler, and having just worked with Chris Nolan in Inception – coupled with Nolan’s tendency to reuse actors, this might not be such a stretch.

Jim Carrey was the last actor to play the part and was invariably amusing and astoundingly camp:

I like this guy to play Vicki Vale:
