Jon Stewart Is Leaving ‘The Daily Show’ After 16 Years

Veteran comedian Jon Stewart, whose satirical news reports are quite frequently more on-point than the actual news, is leaving his post at The Daily Show after 16 years on the air.

The AV Club broke the news earlier today, saying that Stewart told an audience at his most recent taping that he’ll be retiring soon, thus sending them into a social media frenzy.
Given that all we have to go on so far is those few brief remarks, there is no word yet on when he’ll be retiring, or what kind of blow-out is planned for his farewell.
Stewart joined Comedy Central’s The Daily Show in 1999, and hit his stride during the 2000 election campaign that saw George W Bush running for office, never looking back.
We’ll miss this guy.
