Jon Favreau Has Blessed Us With Some Spicy Deets About The Boba Fett Spinoff & Mando S3

Jon Favreau

Jon Favreau, a legend, has shared some details about The Mandalorian season 3 and the recently announced Boba Fett spinoff series. He’s a busy, busy man, tell ya what.

In the post-credits scene at the end of The Mandalorian season 2 finale, Disney announced another spinoff series called The Book of Boba Fett, starring Temuera Morrison in the titular role. The spinoff wasn’t announced at this month’s huge Disney announcement, but that was because Jon Favreau and his writing / producing / directing partner Dave Filoni wanted to keep it a surprise.

The spinoff costars Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, and is executive produced by Favreau, Filoni, and Robert Rodriguez, who directed chapter 14 of Mando.

After the finale, some fans wondered if The Book of Boba Fett would act as season 3 of The Mandalorian, or if Din Djarin’s adventures would continue.

Speaking to Good Morning America on Monday, Favreau cleared up the confusion.

“This one [Boba Fett] is actually separate from The Mandalorian season 3, but what we didn’t see in that [Disney] announcement is that the next show coming up … that’s going to be the Book of Boba Fett,” Favreau said.

“And then we go into the production right after that on season 3 of The Mandalorian, back with the main character that we all know and love.”

Following the interview, Disney confirmed The Book of Boba Fett will premiere December 2021 on its streaming service.

Favreau said the Boba Fett series is currently in production, while Mando season 3 is in pre-production. Unless, Disney plans on releasing these two series together, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Din Djarin again until 2022.

Favreau added that Filoni is currently writing the Ahsoka Tano spin-off series, which was also announced recently.

Filoni directed Ahsoka’s live-action debut on The Mandalorian, starring Rosario Dawson as the beloved character. Not to mention, all of his work on The Clone Wars. So it’s safe to safe Ahsoka’s series is in good hands.

Favreau and Filoni will also work on another recently announced series, Rangers of the New Republic.

Lot’s happening, hey?

You can stream The Mandalorian on Disney+ now.
