Jerry Seinfeld Just Teased A ‘Bee Movie’ Sequel & The Fandom Cannot Cope

When he’s not busy pairing holy grail Nikes with dad jeans or rolling around in ungodly piles of cash, Jerry Seinfeld enjoys the occasional Tweet. The very occasional Tweet.

Today, nestled between sporadic posts about Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, the man himself dropped this little piece of wonderment:

If you missed it the first time around, that boggling animated flick dropped in 2007 to a consensus of confusion and bemusement.

Of course, since the internet seizes on well-intentioned but somewhat misguided content like… well, bees to honey, Bee Movie has ascended to cult meme status in the year 2016.

If you can’t spare a minute to search #BeeMovie on Tumblr, have a gander at this:

And that is, honest to God, just scraping the surface. So, when Seinfeld asked for opinions on the follow-up, that particular (and somewhat depraved) corner of the internet went ballistic.

For what it’s worth, Seinfeld has discussed the prospect on social media before, and he is well aware – and likely a little scared – of the film’s ardent following. During his Reddit AMA, the man said “there’s a fantastic energy now for some reason…  I actually did consider it, but then I realized it would make Bee Movie 1 less iconic.”

In the same session, he also said “if you have any idea what animation is, you’d never do it,” which mirrors today’s follow-up Tweet where he muses “cartoons are over, I think.”

Still, the man has given us a dream – a dream like that of a humble honeybee, who wants nothing more than to explore the world and fall in love with the very human Renee Zellweger.
