J.K. Rowling Marked 20 Yrs Of ‘Harry Potter’ W/ A Very Sweet Tweet To Fans

We’d argue there’s been no pop-culture entity as broadly influential on the lives of today’s 20-somethings as the Harry Potter series. So, given its own 20th birthday, it makes sense author J.K. Rowling would be just a little chuffed.
In commemoration of the day Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first unleashed upon the world, Rowling issued a brief but pretty lovely statement: it touches on her deep sense of connection to the world she created, and thanks the fans who eventually shared it with her.

That’s not the only piece of social media appreciation for the landmark series, either. Facebook itself has taken the pretty rare step of giving each of Hogwarts‘ houses some special visual effects when posted on the site, as demonstrated below:

That’s a pretty nifty recognition of a series that we’d estimate 70% of Facebook’s userbase is obssessed with, tbh.

Others with more skin in the game have also celebrated H-Potts’ two-decade anniversary, too. Bloomsbury have unloaded eight special-edition copies of the story’s inaugural entry, and you can get around ’em HERE.
