HBO Confirms ‘Game Of Thrones’ S7 Is Comin’ A Lil Later & A Lil Shorter

Yo, Game of Thrones fans – you’re gonna have to wait a teeny-tiny bit longer for season 7. Though there had long been speculation that this season would take a little longer due to production delays, HBO have confirmed it won’t land ’til summer 2017 – which is, obviously, our winter.

Also, the series is a lil trimmer. Rather than ten episodes, we’re getting seven. We assume this means they’ll cram far more blood, murder, dragons and incest into each episode for efficiency.
HBO programming president Casey Bloys confirmed that the shift in production was because – now that winter is absolutely here in the show – there’s a higher demand for cold weather sets.
“Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing,” Bloys said.
Production will be based in Northern Ireland with additional locations in Spain and Iceland
