Gus Fring Joins Community

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains a major Breaking Bad spoiler.

The moment we knew things wouldn’t end well for Gus Fring (and by extension Giancarlo Esposito) was when the jangly intro to Apparat’s “Goodbye” (from an album called The Devil’s Walk no less!) transformed the fourth season finale of Breaking Bad into a modern day Spaghetti Western. Someone had to go and it sure as hell wouldn’t be Walt.

By the time his face melted off for good, the Albuquerque Chicken Man had earned a spot amongst the greatest television deaths of all time along with Omar Little’s sudden demise on The Wire, the series finale of Six Feet Under and Big Pussy’s emotional execution on The Sopranos. It was a begrudging goodbye for many, us included, but Esposito fanatics won’t have to wait long to see him on a critically acclaimed television show again. And this time, he’s in it for the LOLs.

Vulture reports that Esposito will cameo in an upcoming episode of Community playing “a business associate of Pierce’s late father, Cornelius Hawthorne.” Hopefully that means clever callbacks to the other “business associate” he played so well and an Abed monologue where he ends every other sentence with “bitch” or “yo”. Our faces are melting already.
