GoT’s Nathalie Emmanuel Got Real About Filming Tonight’s Unlikely Sex Scene

Okay, you should realise this from the title, but just in case ya didn’t, I’m gonna spell this out to cover my ass: this article contains spoilers. It is literally all spoilers. So if you haven’t sat down with ‘Game of Thrones‘ for the second ep of season seven, just bookmark this and go do that. We’ll talk later.
You’re back? Good, cool, now we can get to business: cunnilingus.
GoT‘ obviously is not a show that shies away from sex, especially the fucked kind like incest and rape, or, in this week’s episode, the not-fucked kind: eunuch sex and cunnilingus.
You know how it’s kinda rare to see a man going down on a woman on film and television? Probably because the Motion Picture Association of America like to give films featuring the sex-act-everyone-should-do-more-of an adults-only NC-17 rating (but extreme violence? That’s just an R).
Yeah so ‘Game of Thrones‘ just went ahead and did it, and they did it in an incredibly novel way: with Unsullied warrior/actual eunuch Grey Worm set to go to battle, he says she is his “weakness” and gives her a big ol’ smooch. Oh, and then he goes down on her.
Check the set-up:

So according to George R. R. Martin, man of vivid imagination, the Unsullied have their dick and balls cut off when they’re only children, and their junk is then burned at the altar of the Lady of Spears. To make up for it they’re given a puppy on the same day, which they then have to murder a year later. It’s gruesome stuff, folks.
Which means Grey Worm has no junk, so P in V missionary is off the cards. But he and Missandei makes it work, as you can see in this tender scene, starring her boobs and Grey Worm’s pert bum:

It’s inspired an unsurprising reaction in ‘GoT’s famously randy/fanfiction-writing fans.

Missandei herself, Nathalie Emmanuel, spoke to ‘Entertainment Weekly‘:

We’ve seen them show their interest in each other, we’ve seen them in a roundabout way express it for each other, but not really say it. This point is the climax and they physically act upon it.”

It was her first nude scene for ‘Thrones‘, and she admitted she felt vulnerable, and that it was hard to do – particularly with her good mate, Jacob Anderson – but ultimately it boiled down to trust on set.

It was treated very well and very respectfully and I feel like we had a really great day showing these two characters being completely vulnerable with each other. And it sort of helps the scene to actually feel very vulnerable and exposed. It’s good to use that energy and it made it so much better.

On the topic of Grey Worm’s nether region she said: “The scene keeps everybody guessing about certain things.”
But she was less coy about her hope for their future: “You hope those two have a happy ending. But you try not even to say it out loud.
