Google to Launch Spotify-esque Music Service Tomorrow

Sans official announcement: Google is expected to launch a music streaming platform tomorrow, similar to the likes of Spotify. As told to The Verge, the service will be unveiled tomorrow at the Google I/O conference for software developers.

Licensing deals have apparently been signed with both Universal and Sony for both YouTube and Google Play, according to ‘music industry sources’. The New York Times had this to say of the impending service:

“The subscription feature will be connected to Play, Google’s online media hub, complementing its download store and “locker” feature, which lets people store their digital entertainment collections online.”
But guess what, thrifty Googlers? This adaptation of Rdio/Pandora/Spotify doesn’t come without a price. While some of their counterparts cater to a free market (at the expense of enduring ads) sources report that Google Music will not offer a free tier, instead adopting a similar monthly price point to competitors- around ten bucks a month. Eyes on the prize tomorrow for full details.
