The Mandalorian star Gina Carano has been dropped from season three of the show, following a string of controversial social media posts that recently went viral.
Lucasfilm released a statement on Thursday confirming the news, labelling her social media posts “abhorrent” and “unacceptable.”
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” the statement read.
In one Instagram story, she shared a post that compared Jewish persecution under Nazi Germany to being a Republican in today’s political climate.
as a jewish person, this is fucking vile and unnecessary. gina carano needs to be held accountable. the oppression my people have faced because of our religion and ethnicity is NOT the same as political disagreements. pic.twitter.com/ABuM8kO5hM

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” the post read.
This prompted the hashtag #FireGinaCarano which was trending on Twitter yesterday. Fans tried to get #WeLoveGinaCarano to trend, but people weren’t really buying it, and it’s easy to see why.
Red is LOVE. Red is PASSION. Red is FIRE.
That’s exactly what @ginacarano is ❤❤🔥#WeLoveGinaCarano #IStandWithGinaCarano #GinaCarano pic.twitter.com/LAccwwCd3z

It’s not the first time Carano has been in hot water over her controversial opinions. In November last year, she made fun of people who put their pronouns in their social media bios by writing “beep/bop/boop” in her Twitter bio.
However, she later backtracked on that bio and said co-star Pedro Pascal “helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios. I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to. I stand against bullying, especially the most vulnerable and freedom to choose.”
On Thursday, Pascal celebrated his sister Lux Pascal coming out as a trans woman, sharing images of her on the cover of Chilean magazine Revista Ya to social media.
One day we get a beautiful story about Pedro Pascal and his goodness and support for inclusivity, and the next we’re reminded that Gina Carano has a lizard brain and should not be trusted around human beings. #FireGinaCarano
