George R. R Martin Working On New HBO Series, Finds More Ways To Avoid ‘Winds Of Winter’

It’s phenomenally depressing when you think about the power George R R Martin wields over us, the aching fans of his fantasy wares: forever waiting for Martin to continue what he’s started in order to ebb the anxiety-riddled palpations of our hearts, we’re unwittingly held prisoner to his pen—and Stockholm Syndrome isn’t far off.  We are all the Reek to Martin’s Ramsay Bolton

Yesterday, a chapter from Martin’s “Winds of Winter” was released online, as good a sign as any that the seventh instalment of Martin’s series is visibly bobbing on the horizon. Today, however, THR confirms that Martin has found a brand new way to procrastinate from the task at hand, as he is reportedly developing an unrelated series for HBO.
Fucking kidding you is what I’m not.

The news isn’t all terrible, however, as the series in question does sound promising. According to THR, the series—currently early stages of development—will be called ‘Captain Cosmos’, and centres on “a young science fiction writer living in 1949 at the dawn of the age of TV. The writer spends his time penning stories no one else would dare to write.”

The pilot of ‘Captain Cosmos’ will be penned by Michael Cassutt, with THR claiming that Martin’s involvement in the show’s development will not be a major commitment. We’ll believe it when we see it.
