Yup – more Mad Max films are on the way. Three, in fact, with Tom Hardy revealing that he’s attached to star in three more Mad Max films – provided they make some coin.
“Everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived,” he told Variety. “Inevitably, it’s a business.
Considering Mad Max: Fury Road has racked up $109.5 million wordwide in the first few days of its release, and it has an almost unheard of 98% approval rating on film aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes (up from the 97% approval rating we reported on last week), new Mad Max movies are basically a done deal at this point.
Miller, who directed all four Mad Max films set in a post-apocalyptic Australian outback, revealed that fifth in the franchise will be called ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland’.
Now we don’t want to get your hopes up, but there’s a chance we could also see a Charlize Theron-led film in ‘Mad Max: Furiosa’. Years ago, Miller said that he planned to shoot two Mad Max films back-to-back (Fury Road was the first one, Furiosa would be the second), but at this point there’s no confirmation from Village Roadshow Pictures. Yet.
