Look At The Brutal, Insane, Awesome First Footage From ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’

Forget Christmas, Comic Con is the most wonderful time of the year. The annual weekend of sprawling mass nerdery has just about everything you could ever wish for from the realms of comics, TV, film, and everything in between. Major film studios use it as a launching pad for fan buzz by revealing first – or exclusive – glimpses into upcoming blockbusters. And this year’s incarnation was absolutely no exception.

Director George Miller was on hand to unveil the first look at the four instalment in his now-iconic Mad Max franchise with the upcoming reboot Mad Max: Fury Road. Due out in 2015, the film puts Tom Hardy into the sturdy leather boots once filled by Mel Gibson, with Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult strapping in for the ride.
Miller himself has promised that the film is essentially one huge, giant, fuck-off car chase sequence where we learn a lil somethin’-somethin’ about the characters along the way. “I love chase movies. I think they’re the purest form of cinema. That’s where the film language started. I wanted to make one long, extended chase, and see what we could pick up about the characters along the way.
Oh, and he also casually dropped this three minute first trailer for the film while he was there. And it just so happens to be ABSOLUTELY FREAKING EPIC, YOU GUYS.
So pumped. SO PUMPED.
Mad Max: Fury Road hits theatres next year. I’ll be heading off to camp out for tickets real soon.
