GOAT: Frances McDormand Shared Her Oscar Win With Every Female Nominee

Behold the best fucking moment of the 90th Academy Awards – Best Actress Winner, Frances McDormand asking all the female nominees to stand up during her acceptance speech.

I cried, you cried, everyone cried.

So in her category with four other powerful women and nominees, Meryl Streep, Sally Hawkins, Margot Robbie, and Saoirse Ronan, McDormand won for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. And even though she was shaking, ‘hyperventilating’, and overwhelmed by the win, she took the moment to deliver a rousing speech about women in the industry.

It began with this fierce AF line:

“I’m hyperventilating a little bit — if I fall over pick me up, because I’ve got some things to say.”

To the roar of the star-studded audience, she continued by asking her fellow female nominees throughout the night, to stand up and share the moment with her. McDormand also asked Streep to stand up first because as McDormand pointed out, everybody follows the queen.

“Look around, ladies and gentlemen. We all have stories to tell and projects we need financed. Don’t talk to us about it at the parties. Invite us into your office in a couple days — or you can come to ours, whichever suits you best — and we’ll tell you all about them.”

You can watch and cry at McDormand’s full acceptance speech below:

SHOOKETH.

Everything was a mighty blur after that so in case you missed it, The Shape Of Water took out best picture and no, there was no shit storm of a mistake this time. Bummer.

The Oscar for best female actor is traditionally presented by the previous winner of the opposite gender but after accusations of sexual harassment surfaced against Casey Affleck from 2010, he decided to skip the ceremony this year. To replace him, the academy elected two women by the name of Jodie Foster and Jennifer Lawrence and if that’s not a statement in itself, I don’t know what is.
