Awkwafina Is An Absolute Mess In Her ‘Nora From Queens’ Trailer And I Am 100% Here For It

Awkwafina

Ray of sunshine Awkwafina has a new comedy series around the corner and it looks like extremely relatable content. And by this I mean Awkwafina plays herself, a big mess, a big Asian mess – otherwise known as me.

Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens is looooosely based on the comedian’s life growing up in Flushing, Queens. The synopsis is as follows: “Raised by her Dad (BD Wong) and Grandma (Lori Tan Chinn) alongside her cousin (Bowen Yang), Nora leans on her family as she navigates life and young adulthood.”

I know that gives away very little but wait ’til you see the trailer.

Also what a bloody cast! I will forever know BD Wong as my husband Li Shang from Mulan, and Lori Tan Chinn as the iconic Mei Chang from Orange Is The New Black.

And there’s a whole slew of guest stars including Michelle Buteau (she pops up in the trailer), Jamie ChungLaverne Cox, my other husband Simu Liu (AKA Marvel’s Shang-Chi), and oh look, yet another of my husbands Harry Shum Jr.

Awkwafina is Nora From Queens will premiere January 22 on Comedy Central. You might have to think of… alternative ways to watch it it doesn’t come to Fetch TV.

Looks like an absolute hoot and a half if you ask me.

Meanwhile, Awkwafina’s absolutely on top of the world at the moment. She was recently featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable and Time’s Next 100.

You can also catch Awkwafina in Jumanji: The Next Level, in cinemas Thursday, 26 December 2019.
