David Attenborough To Sooth Savage Beasts For New Series Of ‘Planet Earth’

Blessings and good tidings to all of you who enjoy glorious nature footage in high definition, and the soothing voice of David Attenborough (i.e. literally everyone).

Ten years after the original Planet Earth roared onto screens and wowed audiences and critics alike the world over, the good knight is bringing a sequel of the highly acclaimed nature series into the magnificent light of day.
The BBC, along with co-production partners BBC America, Germany’s ZDF, and France Televisions have announced that the 89-year-old Attenborough will provide the narration for Planet Earth II, a new nature documentary series that is currently being shopped around global distributors.
Much like its predecessor, Planet Earth II will focus on “the characteristics of Earth’s most iconic habitats and the extraordinary ways animals survive within them.”

And where the original Planet Earth was a technological game-changer, being the first documentary series to be shot in High Definition, Planet Earth II will break similar ground by being shot entirely in the new generation UHD.
Series EP Mike Gunton was glowing in his praise of the new series.

“Ten years after ‘Planet Earth’ first brought the wonders of the natural world to viewers in HD, ‘Planet Earth II’ is another game-changer. Shot in UHD, the epic scale and ambition of this series is second to none. It will be a truly immersive experience, providing audiences with a unique perspective on the most extraordinary places and animals on our planet.”

No word on who exactly will buy the series to air locally, but given that the original show sold to more than 230 territories, it’s really not a matter of if, but when.
