When it comes to Australian series like Dancing With The Stars the designation “star” is clearly open to interpretation. Haley Bracken seems a stretch, for example. The cast for the 2012 Dancing With The Stars has been revealed and, as usual, it features a crew of somebodies who can be categorised under varying degrees of familiarity, c-list at best. Let’s say a proper ‘A List’ person is your international superstars a la Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga, and Oprah. They’re more than an actor or a singer or a tv host – they’re their own brand. They’re the top billing, seat filling powerhouses of the celebrity world. So, using that as our yardstick, let’s meet our new Dancing With The Stars line up.

CLAIM TO “FAME”? Erin McNaught was Miss Australia in 2006 and is extremely pretty. She models for high street brands such as Zu Shoes and gets invited to parties.

CLAIM TO “FAME”? Russell Crowe’s wife. It’s true she has careers as an actor and singer-songwriter, but she’s best known for being Russell’s baby mama. I’m picking her as an early contender to take out the 2012 DWTS title.
BRENDAN FEVLOA
CLAIM TO “FAME”? He’s a legend in the eyes of the Carlton Football Club, having been the club’s leading goal kicker from 2003 until 2009. But outside of AFL he is best known for his dalliance with a former DWTS contestant and the topless shower photo he was later sued for allegedly releasing. Also loves a drink.
KERRI-ANNE KENNERLEY
CLAIM TO “FAME”? Of the entire bunch, Kerri-Anne is the only representative of the upper echelons of Australian celebrity. By participating in wood chop presentations and letting live birds sit in her hair on live television she became a legend of morning tv.

CLAIM TO “FAME”? Sailed around the world and was named the 2011 Young Australian of the Year, but exceptional lifetime achievements at a very young age don’t necessarily equate to “star” do they.
SHANNON NOLL
CLAIM TO “FAME”? Australian Idol runner up who has amassed several thousand fans from throughout rural Australia. Also associated with poor choice of facial hair.
The other contestants are DJ Vogue Williams, actress Zoe Crammond, aging rocker Brian Mannix, “X Factor beefcake” Johnny Ruffo (WHO?!?) and iron man Caine Eckstein.
