Dame Judi Dench Has Just Gotten Her 1st Tattoo At The Ripe Old Age Of 81

You’re only as old as you feel. And for some people, becoming an octogenarian means that now is the time to ink up, son!
Dame Judi Dench has gotten her first tatty at age 81. Why? Because she’s a badass bitch. And it was a birthday present from her daughter, Finty Williams
She went pretty classic with her ink choices, getting ‘Carpe Diem’ tattooed in bold, capital letters on her right wrist.
The tattoo was first visible at a recent James Bond gala for the 60th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Award – Dench has played ‘M‘ in the spy franchise since 1995. (You have even see she has 007 in diamantes on her shoulder for the event, because she’s adorable.)

‘Carpe Diem‘, latin for ‘Seize the day’, is apparently a big quote that inspires Dench. She said to Surrey Life magazine,

“That’s my motto: ‘Seize the day.’ Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday – she’s wonderful with surprises.

Good, isn’t it? Mind you, the company of A Winter’s Tale, which I was doing at the time, used to say that it said fish of the day.”
The veteran actress originally chose an Indian symbol, but got cold feet after she was concerned it didn’t mean what it thought it meant:
“There’s an Indian symbol that I like, which supposedly represents life and love and everything.

One of the cameramen who worked on ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ told me what it meant, but I’m a bit nervous in case I’m being set up… It might be unbelievably rude!”
