Community Returns For Sixth Season Thanks To Yahoo

Aaaannnnddd…Community’s back.

Movie deal pending, fans of the most ethnically diverse study group at Greendale Community College will get everything they had campaigned for with benevolent tech giant Yahoo swooping in from the production ether and ordering a sixth – and likely last – season of the cult Dan Harmon ensemble comedy. After a couple of weeks of deliberation, a deal was stuck between series producer Sony Pictures Television and the U.S. tech giant that is a search engine but also other stuff? to air 13 new episodes on a Netflix competing content platform called Yahoo Stream.

To boot, series creator Dan Harmon will return as executive producer and showrunner. “I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” Harmon said in a statement. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”

“The fans spoke and we listened,” said Zack Van Amburg, president of programming and production at Sony Pictures Television. Thanks to Yahoo, and the amazing team that makes Community great, we’ve avoided the Darkest Timeline yet again and plan to deliver a fantastic season.”

“You can’t get to six seasons and a movie without a 6th season,” added Jamie Erlicht, president of programming and production. “Yahoo is the perfect home for the continuation of this journey.”

Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. One more step left.
