Overnight, The Ellen DeGeneres show exclusively unleashed the trailer for Christopher Robin – a new Disney film starring Ewan McGregor as an adult Christopher Robin who reunites with his ol’ pals Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga, Owl, Roo, and Rabbit.
At first, the film idea copped a lot of flack because this is the real Pooh we’re talking about. A lot of childhoods have been shaped by lazy afternoons watching Pooh and his friends go on adventures so the lead-up to the full trailer was a mixture of excitement and dread.
Then it launched and the moment we all heard Pooh’s voice, this strange uncontrollable splurge of tears started to stream from faces – feelings were felt and August 3 could not come sooner.
If you’ve yet to watch the trailer, prepare for a right ol’ punch in the nostalgic gut:

“People say nothing is impossible but I do nothing everyday.”
MY HEART.
So as the trailer shows, Robin reunites with Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Owl, Roo, Kanga, and Rabbit who remind him about the joys of life.
Jim Cummings, a veteran Disney voice actor, is behind Pooh’s voice and has been for the American version of the cartoon series. Cummings will also voice Tigger, Peter Capaldi will voice Rabbit, Brad Garrett for Eeyore, Toby Jones for Owl, and Sophie Okonedo will lend her voice talents for the role of Kanga.
Even the official poster is doing things to my heart:
Although, A few people are slinging shots at the animation for making our childhood friends look all worn out but Disney fans have pointed out that’s sort of the point. The designs also bear some resemblance to the original toys from Robin’s childhood.
To the emotional tweets and the inevitability of growing old:

Why do I get the horrible horrible feeling that #christopherRobin is going to end very sadly. Pooh and his friends would have to part ways with Christopher, no? The childhood memories as a reminder for adulthood cliche? pic.twitter.com/TfAsonASJZ
