Channing Tatum Shit Talks ‘G.I. Joe’: “I Fucking Hate That Movie”

In a rare but deliciously gloriously when it happens moment, an actor has done gone talked smack about his own movie, blaming the studio for strong arming him into it.

Channing Tatum has come out swinging at ‘G.I. Joe‘, the money making machine yet critically panned 2013 movie produced by Paramount.

Talking with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show yesterday morning, he said:

“Look, I’ll be honest. I fucking hate that movie. I hate that movie. I was pushed into doing that movie… [After] ‘Coach Carter,’ they signed me for a three-picture deal. And as a young [actor], you’re like, ‘Oh my god, that sounds amazing, I’m doing that!’”

Yeah, nah. He didn’t want to do that. He went and did other cool stuff like ‘21 Jump Street‘ and ‘Magic Mike‘ and gained some perspective, man. When Paramount ended up calling him about the script, he was like, “Look, I love G.I. Joe, can I play Snake Eyes? And they’re like, no, you’re not playing Snake Eyes, you’re playing Joe. I was like arrrgh.”

Then he really digs the nail in, in case anyone’s wondering why it was a shit movie.

“The script wasn’t any good. I didn’t want to do something that I thought was 1) bad, and 2) I just didn’t know if I wanted to be G.I. Joe”

“You have no option. [The studio says] ‘You’re doing this or we’re gonna sue you.’”

Hear that? That’s the sound of every Paramount executive simultaneously snapping their cheque signing pens.

Tbh we’d have really liked to make a Channing’s Tantrum pun somewhere in the heading, but his reasoning is solid. Sounds like a shit situation you just gotta make the best of.

The interview is well worth a listen, and jumps straight into the ‘G.I. Joe’ shit talk. 10/10 would recommend:
