Cannabis Found In Joel Madden’s Sydney Hotel Room, Duh

If every word Joel Madden utters on hit reality show The Voice Australia is anything to go by, it’s safe to assume the guy doesn’t hate marijuana. In any case, the most heavily tattooed and follicularly versatile member of The Voice judging panel has made news overnight after police discovered “a small amount of plant product, believed to cannabis” in the Sydney hotel apartment where Madden has been staying while filming the show.

News.com.au reports that police confirmed they searched Madden’s serviced apartment at about 10.30pm on Sunday night after receiving a tip from a hotel employee and found 5g of cannabis, an amount that isn’t large enough to warrant an arrest according to New South Wales laws.

In a statement that appears to have been drafted on the iPhone ‘Notes’ app and posted to his personal Tumblr, Joel says he hopes this didn’t cause too much drama for anyone.

At this rate, Joel Madden is well on track to becoming The Voice‘s answer to Karl Stefanovic; they share an oblivious disregard for professionalism, a noted interest in weed, and the highest accolade in Australian television (Joel won the Logie for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2013; Karl won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television in 2011). LOL.
