Ben Mendelsohn’s profile stateside continues to rise as the Aussie leading man last seen avoiding Brad Pitt at all costs in Killing Them Softly, playing paramour in a Florence + The Machine film clip, and dancing with Ryan Gosling (and a dog!) on the set of Derek Cianfrance’s Blue Valentine followup, The Place Beyond The Pines, guest starred on last night’s episode of Girls (“Video Games”) as the dickhead papa of Down Town free spirit, Jessa (Jemima Kirke).
In it, Jessa ropes in Hannah (Lena Dunham) to visit her estranged father in upstate New York where he lives with his new age girlfriend (Rosanna Arquette) and her teenage son Frank, only to find that he’s as flaky, selfish and unreliable as she remembers him to be in her childhood. Bummer.
