This Neck With Legs Totally Smashed Australian ‘Bachelor’ Rating Records

Well, a chronically ocker rugby player with a frankly astonishing rig delivered record ratings for last night’s premiere of The Bachelor. Who’d’ve thunk it?

The debut of new bachelor Nick Cummins, aka The Honey Badger, gave Channel 10‘s reality TV darling an average of 1.25 million viewers nationally.

That’s up roughly 200,000 viewers more than Sophie Monk‘s debut as star of The Bachelorette last year.

On top of setting an Australian franchise viewership record, the show also beat shows on rival networks. Channel 9‘s perennial hit The Block clocked 1.2 million viewers on average, with other shows like Channel 7‘s Highway Patrol trailing further.

The Bachelor was also the #1 show in the treasured 16–39 age brackets. If you’re reading this, there’s a very, very solid chance you’re smack bang in the middle of that one.

Cummins’ strong debut on the show bodes well for the remainder of the series on viewership terms alone.

Just as Monk’s inclusion on The Bachelorette as a bona fide celeb bolstered the show against upstarts like Married At First Sight, the Honey Badger’s badgerisms seem likely to keep viewers keen as mustard.
