Attention Fans Of Blue Alien Cats: There’s 4 More ‘Avatar’ Films Coming

Remember 2009? A more innocent time. The heady promises of a new decade were upon us. A whole new brave world was emerging. James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ showed us that the future was now, and the future was weird blue cat aliens in full 3D.
It was always planned to be a trilogy, but despite Cameron’s repeated assurances that he was working on it, nothing material ever showed up. Which is odd, because the first movie went fuckin’ nuts. It grossed $2.788 billion at the box office globally, which not even ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’ could quite match.
Well, if you’re into those blue alien cats who love trees, you’re in luck: Cameron has announced four ‘Avatar’ sequels. He wants to release the first sequel at Christmas 2018 and then a new film in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
“I’ve been working the last couple of years with a team of four top screenwriters,” said Cameron, “to design the world of ‘Avatar’ going forward: The characters, the creatures, the environment, the new cultures.”

Seems pretty bold. But, y’know, there’s a lot of cash going on here. And Christ, Sam Worthington definitely needs a job.
